The official seal of Columbia University. In the center, a seated figure representing Wisdom holds a book and a scepter, surrounded by three children. Above her is a radiant sun containing the Hebrew name for God original: יהוה (Yahweh). The inner border contains the Latin motto: "In your light shall we see light" original: IN LVMINE TVO VIDEBIMVS LVMEN. The outer circular border is inscribed: "Seal of Columbia College in New York" original: SIGILLVM COLLEGII COLVMBIAE NOVI EBORACI. At the bottom of the seal is the date 1754.
