You have truly earned my great gratitude, Lupset, most learned of young men, who turned my attention toward a reading that is both most delightful and destined to be useful by presenting me with the Utopia Nowhere-place of Thomas More. For when you had long pressed me with requests—that which I would have greatly desired of my own accord—to read the six books on the preservation of health by the physician Thomas Linacre, who is most outstanding in both languages, which he recently rendered into Latin from the monuments of Galen, or rather to which he gave Latinity himself: so that if all the works of that author (which I consider to be like all of medicine) at last become Latin, the school of physicians might not seem to desire knowledge of the Greek language so greatly. I perused that book from Linacre's drafts in a hasty reading (the use of which I consider a benefit of the highest order, granted to me by you for a time), in such a way that I judge myself to have profited much from that reading; but I promise myself an even greater profit from the edition of the book which is now being diligently prepared by you in the workshops of this city.
