original: "Cautio Criminalis". This is the title of one of the most famous books ever written against the legal abuses of the witch trials.
original: "Contra Sagas". While "saga" literally means a wise-woman or fortune teller, in this 1631 context, it refers specifically to those accused of witchcraft.
original: "Incerto Theologo Orthod." The book was published anonymously to protect the author, Friedrich Spee von Langenfeld, a Jesuit priest who had seen the horrors of the trials firsthand as a confessor to the condemned.
