Indravajra Meter—The West-wind, parrot-colored, two-footed, a couple, dual-bodied, odd, day-strong, and hot.

Moderate in procreation and mating, forest-dwelling, Shudra by caste, long-voiced, oily, day-strong, and fierce. || 4 ||

A pair consisting of one woman and one man is called Gemini original: "Mithun"; such is its form. The characteristics of the Gemini sign are as follows: it is the ruler of the western direction, of the air element original: "Vayutattva" (airy temperament), green-colored like a parrot, two-footed, gentle, male in form, and of a dual nature original: "Dvisvabhava"—the first half is fixed and the second half is movable. It is an odd-numbered sign, hot in nature, moderate in sexual union, with very few offspring. It is a forest-dweller, of the Shudra caste, possesses a long voice, an oily (smooth) body, is powerful during the day, designated as "cruel" or fierce, and has a firm body. || 4 ||

Upendravajra Meter—Abundant in mating and offspring, the Crab is a wanderer, feminine, pale-pink, and voiceless. ||
Auspicious, phlegmatic, oily, water-dwelling, rising evenly, Brahmin by caste, and ruler of the Night and the North. || 5 ||

The characteristics of Cancer original: "Kark" are as follows: it is shaped like a crab, highly inclined toward mating, many-footed, a movable sign, and of the female gender. Its color is "Patala," meaning pale-pink or whitish. It is voiceless (silent), gentle, of a phlegmatic temperament original: "Kapha", with an oily body. It belongs to the water element original: "Jaltattva", is a water-dweller, designated as "even," of the Brahmin caste, powerful at night, the ruler of the northern direction, and possesses a firm body. || 5 ||

Upajati Meter—Male, fixed, fire, day-strong, bilious, and dry; yellow, hot, ruler of the East, firm, and four-footed. ||
Rising evenly, long-voiced, little mating or offspring; the Lion dwells on mountains, a king, fierce and smoke-colored. || 6 ||

The characteristics of Leo original: "Simha" are as follows: it is shaped like a lion and is male. It is a fixed sign, of the fire element original: "Agnitattva", powerful during the day, of a bilious temperament original: "Pitta", and has a dry body. It is yellow in color, hot in nature, the ruler of the eastern direction, and has strong limbs. It is four-footed, designated as "even," has a long voice, is less inclined toward mating, and has few offspring. It is a mountain-dweller, of the kingly (Kshatriya) class, and is smoke-colored original: "Dhumra". Here too, two colors are mentioned; the purpose is the same as with Aries—the first half is yellow and the second half is the color of smoke. || 6 ||

Upajati Meter—Pale, two-footed, a woman, dual-natured, ruler of the South, night-strong, airy, cool, rising evenly, and of the earth. ||
The Maiden is half-voiced, auspicious, a dweller of the land, Vaishya by caste, dry, with little mating or offspring, and beautiful. || 7 ||

The characteristics of Virgo original: "Kanya" are: the form of a young maiden, pale (yellowish-white) in color, two-footed, a female sign, and of a dual nature (like Gemini).
