A classic 16th-century Sanskrit treatise on Tajika astrology, which incorporates Perso-Arabic influences into Indian systems.
The purposes of the previously mentioned elements are now explained: the compatibility of elements and categories should be considered in the matching of a man and woman, a master and servant, or a teacher and student. For instance, there is a natural affinity between the Earth element and the Water element, as well as between Fire and Air. Conversely, Earth and Fire, or Water and Air, are mutually inimical. In the aforementioned relationships, if the zodiac signs of both parties belong to the same element, there is greater affection. The latter half of Sagittarius is a quadruped four-legged while the first half is a biped two-legged. The latter half of Capricorn is a legless aquatic creature, while the first half is a bipedal land-dweller. || 14 ||

The method for calculating the bodily humors and social classes is explained in a simple manner: the humors—Bile Pitta: the fire/metabolic force, Wind Vata/Anila: the air/movement force, Balanced a mix of all three, and Phlegm Kapha: the water/structural force—should be known by rotating through the signs starting from Aries in three cycles. For example:
Social classes Varna are identified in the same sequence:
Whatever qualities, classes, or humors have been ascribed to the signs should be applied when interpreting a birth chart, a yearly solar return, or a divinatory question. One should predict results based on these names: for example, a "cruel" sign indicates a harsh nature, a "gentle" sign indicates a mild nature, a "movable" sign indicates changeability, a "fixed" sign indicates stability, and a "dual-natured" sign indicates a mix of both. Thus, all qualities of the signs should be applied with intelligence to births, years, and questions; the scriptures are merely an aid to one's own intellect. A more detailed expansion of these sign qualities is written clearly in the Mahidhari commentary of the Brihat Jataka A foundational 6th-century text on Indian astronomy and astrology. || 15 ||
