By dividing a sign into three parts, they call it a Drekkana a decan or 10-degree division. The lords of these are the lords of the sign itself, the lord of the 5th house from it, and the lord of the 9th house from it. In an even sign, the Moon and Sun are the lords of the two halves of the house; in an odd sign, the Sun and Moon are the lords of the halves This refers to the Hora division of 15 degrees each. || 10 ||
In moveable signs, the lords of the Navamshas ninth-parts, 3°20' each begin from the lord of that sign; in fixed signs, they begin from the lord of the ninth sign from it; in dual signs, they begin from the lord of the fifth sign from it. So say the great experts in the meaning of the Shastras sacred scientific texts. || 11 ||
The lords of the Dwadasamshas twelfth-parts, 2°30' each begin from the lord of that specific field the sign itself. The lords of the divisions of the Ascendant are determined by their respective rulers. The lords of the Trimshamshas degree-divisions of unequal length used for strength and character are Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus in an odd sign. In an even sign, || 12 ||

The lords of the Dashamshas tenth-parts in an odd sign start from the lord of that sign; in an even sign, they start from the lord of the ninth sign from it. In an odd sign, the lords of the Kalamsas sixteenth-parts, also called Shodashamsha are Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver, Shiva the Destroyer, and the Sun. || 14 ||
In an even sign, the order is reversed. In an odd sign, the lords of the Shashtyamsas sixtieth-parts, 0°30' each are: 1. Ghora Terrible, 2. Rakshasa Demonic, 3. Deva Divine, 4.
