For Saturn original: "Saurasya", the friends are Venus original: "Bhriguputra" and Mercury original: "Saumya"; Jupiter original: "Guru" is neutral, and all others are enemies. For Rahu the North Node, the friends are Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn; the experts say the same applies to Ketu the South Node in this system. || 60 ||
All planets become "temporal friends" original: "Tatkalika Mitra" when they are positioned in the second, third, fourth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth houses from one another. If they are situated in other houses, they become "temporal enemies" for that specific time. || 61 ||
When a planet is both a natural friend original: "Nisarga Mitra" and a temporal friend, it is designated a "Great Friend" Adhimitra: a planet that provides exceptionally positive results due to double friendship. Likewise, if it is an enemy in both ways, it is a "Great Enemy" Adhishatru. If it is a friend in one way and an enemy in the other, it becomes "Neutral." || 62 ||
A lord of the planets attains "Positional Strength" Sthana Bala: strength derived from a planet's zodiacal location when it is in its sign of exaltation, in a friend's sign, in its own Navamsha: a 1/9th divisional chart, in its own sign, in its own Drekkana: a 1/10th divisional chart, or in its own Dvadasamsha: a 1/12th divisional chart. || 63 ||
Mercury and Jupiter are powerful in the East the 1st House/Ascendant. The Sun and Mars possess strength in the South the 10th House. Saturn is powerful in the West the 7th House. The Moon and Venus are powerful in the North the 4th House. || 64 ||
In the seventh house from these positions, they are said to be devoid of "Directional Strength" Dig Bala; for positions in between, the strength should be calculated by proportion. The Sun and other planets are also endowed with strength during their own months, Horas: planetary hours, days, and years. || 65 ||
Saturn, the Moon, and Mars are powerful at night. The Sun, Jupiter, and Venus are powerful during the day. Mercury is always powerful. During the bright fortnight waxing moon, the benefic planets are strong, and during the dark fortnight waning moon, the others malefics are strong in sequence. || 66 ||
Planets are at full strength when aspected by benefics and not aspected by malefic planets. The Sun is exceedingly powerful during its Northern Course Uttarayana: the period between the winter and summer solstices, while the Moon is full of strength at other times. || 67 ||
Mars and the other planets excluding the Sun and Moon are powerful when in retrograde motion. A planet is also victorious in "planetary war" when two planets are in close conjunction if it possesses brilliance and is situated in the North. In terms of "Natural Strength" Naisargika Bala, the planets are stronger in this increasing order: Saturn, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Moon, and Sun. || 68 ||
The strength of the Ascendant Lagna is dependent on the strength of its Lord...
