The Sun is most powerful; the Moon’s strength is six; Mars original: "Vasundhara-raja", King of the Earth is five. Mercury original: "Indu-suna", Son of the Moon is six and a half; Jupiter is five and a half.
Then Venus is powerful at seven. Saturn is five. This is the combination of the six strengths; otherwise, they would be different. For the Sun, they desire three units of strength; then for Directional strength Dig-bala: strength gained by being in a specific cardinal direction, it is two and three-quarters.
For Positional strength, it is one unit minus a quarter. For Motional strength Cheshta-bala: strength derived from the planet's specific movement or speed, it is one unit minus a sixth part. For Temporal strength Kala-virya: strength derived from the time of day, month, or year, it is two units minus an eighth part.
The full strengths of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Jupiter are given; however, the strength born of the Solstice Ayanaja-bala: strength related to the planet's declination north or south of the equator is half a unit when calculated separately. For the Moon, they say Directional strength is one unit minus a sixth.
For Positional strength, it is two units plus a quarter. For Temporal strength, it is two units minus a third. For Motional strength, it is exactly half a unit. For the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter, the Solstitial strength is one unit minus a third.
For these same planets, the Motional strength is one unit minus a third. The Temporal strength is one unit plus one-eighth and thirty seconds. For Saturn and Mars original: "Dinesha-putra" (Son of the Sun) and "Vasundhara-suna" (Son of the Earth), the Directional strength is half a unit.
The Solstitial strength is one-third of a unit. The Positional strength is two and a half units. These strengths are declared in sequence for the Son of the Sun and the Son of the Earth. These strengths increase until they reach the midpoint of the astrological house Bhava: the twelve divisions of the sky relative to the observer, and from there, they decrease. When a planet is in its sign of exaltation or a friend's sign, it attains its primary strength through these six divisions.
