Commentary — One who has the Sun in the first house original: "tanu-bhava," the house of the body or self will be tall in stature; that is to say, his physical frame will be high. He will suffer mental distress caused by his kinsmen and his wife. His body will be constantly afflicted by imbalances of wind and bile referring to the Vata and Pitta humors in Ayurvedic medicine. He will be a frequent traveler. His wealth will constantly increase, yet he will also face depletion.
If the Sun is in the second house, one becomes highly fortunate and gains happiness from four-legged animals traditionally referring to livestock or horses; in a modern context, vehicles or wealth. He accumulates riches, yet conflict arises with his wife and family members. His actions often become fruitless due to excessive haste. || 2 ||
Commentary — One who has the Sun in the house of wealth original: "dhana-bhava" will be exceptionally fortunate. He will derive happiness from four-legged animals and will accumulate savings. He will have quarrels with his wife and the members of his family, and all his works will go to waste because of his impulsiveness.
When the Maker of Rays the Sun is in the third house at the time of birth, one attains great majesty and valor. However, he suffers on account of his brothers. He becomes a pilgrim to holy places, his enemies are destroyed, and he receives favors from the king in times of war. || 3 ||
Commentary — One who has the Sun in the house of valor original: "parakrama-bhava" will be very powerful. He will achieve fame through his courage. He will experience distress caused by his own brothers. He will undertake pilgrimages to holy rivers and shrines. His enemies will be destroyed, and he will secure his own welfare from the king or government during battles.
In the fourth house, the Lord of the Day the Sun grants great splendor and the gain of four-legged animals, as well as a house and relatives. He is bold against his opponents, yet in battle, he may face a blow to his honor, and his mind rarely finds peace. || 4 ||
