They are likened to the powers of Saturn. However, the influence of those stars located in the hind foot of the same referring to the previous constellation, likely Aries or Cetus based on the sequence do not differ from the works of Mars; and those located in its tail follow the powers of Venus. ¶ Regarding the stars in Taurus: the temperament of the star situated on its shoulder does not differ from the temperament of Venus, and it also slightly resembles the temperament of Saturn. The star Athozace original: "Athozace"; likely a corruption of an Arabic star name is proven to share a temperament mixed of Mars and the Moon. But among the stars in the head of Taurus, the brightest, which bears a likeness of clear redness and is called Aldebaran The "Follower," the bright red eye of the Bull, its temperament is not far removed from the temperament of Mars. Of the others located there, their temperament is equal to that of Saturn and bears a likeness to the temperament of Mars to some degree. Those placed at the tips of its horns perform the same as Mars. ¶ Likewise, of the stars of the sign Gemini: those placed in their feet do not depart from the Mercurial quality, although they are slightly associated with the quality of Venus. The brighter stars placed in their thighs equal the Saturnine temperament. Two large stars are impressed upon their two heads: the first of which is likened to Mercury in its effects and is called Avellar original: "auellar"; likely Castor; the other imitates the temperament of Mars and is called Abzacale original: "abzacale"; likely Pollux. ¶ Likewise in Cancer, of the two stars that hold their place in its foot: their work is one and the same, likened to Mercurial works and slightly to Martial ones. The temperament of those in its claws original: "acubene"; from Arabic 'al-zubānā' is not repugnant to the temperament of Saturn and Mercury. The work of that which is located in its breast bears the likeness of a cloud and is called Meelef original: "meelef"; the Praesepe or Beehive Cluster; it equals the works of the Moon and Mars. The powers of the two stars on either side of Meelef, which are called the Two Asses Asellus Borealis and Asellus Australis, do not depart from the powers of Mars and the Sun; and it is manifest that this temperament cuts and destroys. ¶ But of the stars in Leo, the two set in its head: their work is likened to Saturnine works and also slightly to Martial ones. The works of the three in its
neck are made equal to Saturnine works, although they are slightly likened to Martial works. The bright star positioned in the heart of the Lion, which they call the Royal Star Regulus, works just as Jupiter and Mars do. The star placed on its back and the bright star located in its tail equal the powers of Venus and Saturn, although they imitate Mercury slightly in their effects. Two stars set in its thighs do not depart from the powers of Venus and Mercury. ¶ Likewise in Virgo, the works of those in its head, and those in its eye, as well as those figured at the extremity of its southern wing: they are not removed from Mercurial effects and are slightly likened to the works of Mars. Other bright stars formed in its northern wing as well as those in its back do not differ from the works of Mercury, and they bear a slight likeness to Mars. The bright star carried in its northern wing, which they call Almucedeme Alacaf original: "almucedeme alacaf"; likely Vindemiatrix, works as Saturn and Mercury do. But the work of the star called Acimech Alaazel original: "acimech alaazel"; Spica does not depart from the powers of Venus and is somewhat likened to Mercurial ones. Those placed at the top of its feet, and from that part where they draw out the hems of the garment, equal Mercurial and Martial powers. ¶ And those that appear at the extremity of the two claws of the Scorpion referring here to Libra, which was historically the "Claws of the Scorpion": in their inherent works, they imitate Saturn and Mercury; and those that occupy the middle of them are likened to the powers of Saturn, and follow the temperament of Mars slightly. ¶ Of those noted in Scorpio, the powers of its bright stars do not depart from the powers of Mars. Of the three in its mouth, the middle one which is the brightest and has a bit of redness is called the Heart of the Scorpion Antares; it is not separated from the works of Mars, and although slightly, it assumes the powers of Jupiter. Those which are established in the joints of its tail are likened to the powers of Venus and Saturn. But those established in its sting [imitate] Mars and Mercury.
