and will add to his goodness. If it [the planet] is received, that goodness will be joined with truth and righteousness. Reception is an astrological concept where one planet is in a sign ruled by another. But if it is unfortunate, it will destroy the innate goodness of the person born. If the Part of Absence is in falling houses, the goodness which the person appears to have will eventually be destroyed. But if the lords of the said parts are unfortunate, the goodness of the person, both in appearance and from within, will be considered as nothing. If in a daytime birth Jupiter is in the 3rd house, the person will be a hypocrite and will show himself to people to be what he is not at all. The Sun in the 3rd house, being in any of its dignities, signifies a total lack of faith. And if the Moon is in the 3rd house in a nighttime birth, the person will appear just: but he will show more of this outwardly than he has in his heart.
When Jupiter is in the ascendant and the Moon is in the descendant and Mars regards Jupiter, the person born will worship the stars and powers. Where Venus appears under the rays original: "sub radijs" - meaning too close to the sun to be seen in the 2nd house, the person will be an idolater. Similarly, Saturn in the 3rd house with the Moon signifies the person will be an idolater and a teacher of the contrary [faith]. When the Moon is in the 9th house in a daytime birth and in a feminine sign, the person will be a despiser of God and his adversary. When Venus is besieged by Saturn and Mars in one sign, and the unfortunates Mars and Saturn regard the Moon and Mercury with a quartile or opposite aspect, the person will be a worshiper of many idols. Mars in the ascendant in opposition to Jupiter will show the person to be an idolater. If Mercury with Mars is in the house of Jupiter, the person will be like a hermit of idols. When Saturn is the lord of the ascendant, or lord of the house of the Sun, or of the Part of Fortune, or of the opposition or conjunction, and is in the 9th house and Jupiter regards him: the person will be an abbot or a high priest of idols. And if Mercury is in the house of Mars and Mars regards him or is in opposite aspect, the person will be a heretic. And similarly if the Sun, Moon, and Mercury are in a double-bodied sign e.g., Gemini, Pisces with the fortunates, if Mars shines there with a quartile or opposite aspect.
When Saturn regards Jupiter with a trine aspect: the person will be wise, of good counsel and character, of sound thought, and skilled in all the secrets of nature: so that it will be said of him that he is a philosopher; he will be a narrator of the deeds of kings and will predict grave matters like the soothsayers Auruspex: a diviner who interprets omens. When Mercury is in his own house or exaltation and in a good figure and place, and Mars regards him with a good aspect, the person will be very wise in the course of the stars and grave in his affairs, and of profound thought; he will prefer many books, join them to himself, and speak wonderful things. When Mercury is with the Sun in its own house, the Sun being in its own face, the person will be a wise physician and a practitioner of physics. When Mercury is in the midheaven, direct and in any of its dignities, and the Moon regards it with a quartile or opposite aspect, and the Moon is in her own house or exaltation, the person will be wise, sensible, and an observer of the stars. When Mercury is fortunate in its own house, the person will be a lover of books and the science of the stars, and a commentator on those difficult matters. When Mercury, being in his house or exaltation, is in the ascendant, and Saturn is in the descendant, the person will investigate grave and difficult sciences and through this will have lordship and sublimity. When Mars regards Mercury in any of its dignities with a trine aspect and Mars is fortunate, the person will be a wise and experienced philosopher. When the Moon is in her house or exaltation or in the term of Mercury, the person will be wise in secret and obscure or hidden things. When Mercury is in the 3rd house with ...? and in its face, and he is also the lord of the ascendant and the Part of Fortune, the person will be a soothsayer and wise in secret matters. When Mercury, appearing from under the rays of the Sun, is in the said 3rd house and in a masculine sign, the person will be an augur a priest who interprets the flight of birds and will live by augury and have profit from it. But if Mars is oriental and regards Mercury so disposed, the person will have knowledge of books and be wise in them. When Mercury is in the 9th house without the aspect of Mars, the person will be an interpreter of dreams, and this more strongly if Saturn is in his house or exaltation. But if Venus is disposed toward Saturn as we have said, the person will likewise be an interpreter of dreams. When Mercury and the Sun are in the 9th house and in any of their dignities, the person will be wise and an interpreter of dreams and like a soothsayer. When Mercury is oriental and fortunate in the 9th house, the person will be an augur. When the Part of Fortune and the Part of Faith are in the 9th or 3rd house without the aspect of the fortunates and unfortunates, and regard them from the opposite of their house, the person will be a soothsayer and will unlock the secrets of obscurities. When Saturn and Mercury are in the 3rd house, being in their house or exaltation, the person will be wise in the stars and have profit from it. And say the same if Mercury appears under the rays in the 3rd house. And if Venus is a pilgrim in a sign where she has no dignity in the 3rd house and Saturn regards her from his house or exaltation with a good aspect, the person will be a necromancer: or will do wonderful things by art. He will be seen as a prophet and will bring about wonders, especially if Venus is in a feminine sign. When both Mercury and Saturn are fortunate and free in the ascendant or midheaven, the person will be a necromancer. When Mercury is in his house or exaltation and Saturn, while Mercury is unfortunate, regards him with a quartile or opposite aspect, the person will be a physician, but his science will not profit him: he will be miserable and poor. When Mercury is fortunate in the house of Saturn, the person will be wise in knowing secret and obscure things, talkative, rhetorical, an augur, and an interpreter of dreams. When Sagittarius or Pisces is the sign of the 3rd house and Saturn is in it, the person will be wise in good things. When Mercury with Venus is in the 4th house, the person will be a casuistic disputant and an inventor of words, and this more strongly if in a pilgrim sign. When the Sun is in the 9th house, the person will be a lawyer, a disputant in faith, and a praiser of God. When Jupiter in a daytime birth is the lord of the 3rd house and the sign of said house is masculine, the person will be wise. And if it is a nighttime birth, the person will be believed to be wise but will not be. If the Moon, separated from the Sun, joins Mercury in the 3rd house, the person will be a writer and wise in computation. When the Sun and Mercury or Jupiter are in the 9th or 3rd house and in Leo, the person will be of clear intellect and an organizer of things. When Mercury is fortunate in the midheaven, the person will be subtle and of quick genius. And similarly if Mercury is in the house of Mars. When the Moon is with Saturn in its orientality, the person will be intelligent but lazy and soft. When the Moon is separated from Venus and joined to Mercury and both are occidental, the person will be subtle and sharp. When Jupiter receives Mars, or regards him with a quartile aspect, the person will be of good counsel and intellect. When the Sun is in the house of Jupiter or in its 3rd or 6th aspect, the person will be of good counsel, intellect, and profound science. But if Mercury is with him, the person will be skilled in law and wise in judgments. When Mercury is fortunate in the house of the Sun in a daytime birth, the person will be sharp and subtle.
When the Sun is in the house of Mars and Jupiter regards it with a good aspect, the person will be of good memory. When Venus and Mars with the Moon are well-fortuned, the person will be mindful and a deceiver in genius. When Mercury and Mars are fortunate and regard the Moon, the person will beautifully relate those things which he knows. When Mercury is in the house of the Sun and Jupiter regards him with a good aspect, the person will be intelligent and mindful and of quick intellect. When Jupiter is joined with him, the person will be a cleric or a judge among clerics.
When Mercury is in the 2nd house and under the rays of the Sun, and the Moon is diminished in light and unfortunate, the person will be of bad intellect, weak in sense, not receiving instruction. When Mercury is in the 4th house and is the lord of the Part of Absence, the person will be of bad intellect, of heavy speech, of little science and sense. When the Sun is in the house of the Moon and she is unfortunate under the earth and diminished in light: the person will be of hard and bad intellect: like a donkey, of much error, weak counsel, and a thick brain. When Mercury and Saturn are unfortunate in the ascendant and Jupiter is retrograde and a pilgrim and regards them with an opposite aspect, the person will be of hard and bad intellect, knowing and understanding little.
When Jupiter regards a fortunate Mercury with a 3rd aspect, the person will be sensible, of good speech, and of quick intellect. When Mercury is in his own house and
