Who among the experts of JyotishashastraThe traditional Indian system of astronomy and astrology in India does not know the name of the venerable Ganesha? Or who has not encountered his GrahalaghavaLiterally 'Ease of the Planets,' a famous 16th-century astronomical manual by Ganesha Daivajna? Writing an introduction for it is a task in itself. || 1 ||

Ample VasanaExplanatory commentary or proofs has been provided for this work by Mallari and Sudhakara, as well as by the illustrious Vishvanatha. Excellent commentaries and examples were also produced by Sita, Rama, and other Maithila scholars. || 2 ||

Yet, some of those works have become difficult to obtain, and there is a lack of modern accessibility in what is available. Therefore, being earnestly requested by groups of students and encouraged by Jayakrishna Das the publisher, || 3 ||

I have reflected upon modern mathematics and the teachings of Naradeva and others. Thus, for the benefit of students, I have written a new, simple UpapattiMathematical proof or rationale using clear language. || 4 ||

Since a seeker of knowledge cannot find a truly excellent work without the wisdom of the ancients, O masters of the craft! I have also preserved the ancient calculations performed by the venerable Vishvanatha. || 5 ||
