One should conduct trade original: "Vāṇija," the name of a specific Karana or lunar half-day during its period. During the Vishti another name for the Bhadra period period, burning, falling, or similar calamities occur; nothing auspicious should be done then. || 7 || During the Shakuni period, one should engage in omens, medicine, chanting mantras, and rites for prosperity. During the Chatushpada period, one should attend to matters of the state, cattle, priests, and ancestral rites. || 8 || During the Naga period, one should perform acts related to beauty or those of a harsh nature. During the Kimstughna period, auspicious ceremonies should be performed. || 9 ||
In the bright fortnight the waxing moon, Bhadra resides in the latter half of the eleventh and fourth lunar days. It is said to reside in the first half of the eighth and full moon days. || 10 || In the dark fortnight the waning moon, it resides in the latter half of the third and tenth days, and in the first half of the seventh and fourteenth days. || 11 ||
Five units of time original: "nāḍī," a measure of 24 minutes are in the mouth, one in the throat, and ten in the heart. Five are in the navel, six in the waist, and three units of time make up the tail of the Vishti. || 12 || The results arising from these limbs of Vishti are, in order: destruction of work, death, loss of wealth, gain of wisdom, stability, and strife. Success is the result of the tail. || 13 || In urgent matters, one must avoid only the mouth of the Vishti.
On the lunar days measured by the numbers 14, 8, 7, 3, 4, 10, 11, and 1, during the successive watches of the day starting from the first, the face of Vishti resides in the directions starting from the East. || 14 || One should know the face of Vishti; the back is auspicious, while the front is inauspicious. || 15 ||
On the eighth day, it is in the first and eighth watches; on the eleventh day, in the first and eighth; on the full moon day, in the sixth; and on the third day, in the third. || 16 || These three units of time are called the "tail." Now, for the dark fortnight: on the third day, it is in the seventh watch; on the seventh day, in the second. || 17 || On the tenth day, in the fifth watch; and on the fourteenth day, in the fourth watch. In the tail of Vishti, there is victory in battle and other works are highly auspicious. || 18 ||
