4 original: "Gna" Knowledge and so forth—the periods are fivefold. The attainment of the results of the periods occurs in the Prana DashaThe smallest sub-division of a planetary period, literally "breath-period". In the AntardashaThe secondary sub-period and others, there is some agitation or confusion, but some gross physical/tangible result is given to men. The sequence of the four sub-periods starting from the Antardasha is maintained throughout life. One attains wealth and benefits through the Sun's period, which lasts 6 years. The results of the sub-periods of which are here described in brief, each by name.
The Sun causes loss of wealth. The Son of the Moon (Mercury) brings wealth, religious merit, and gain of objects. The Moon and Mars bring injury by weapons, disease, and death. Under Mercury, one gains wealth. Under Jupiter, there is slow movement but great dignity and wealth, or sometimes imprisonment. Venus is expert in providing all desired fruits. These are the results in the periods.
The Sun: Loss of direction, serving others, destruction, distress, foreign travel, harassment by authorities, mental wandering, and separation from kinsmen and family. When the Sun's period arrives, there is fear from the government.
The Moon: Complete prosperity, vehicles, service to the King, welfare, majesty, strength, heroism, and a place of happiness. The Moon grants food, drink, a bed to rest on, and gains of wealth, gold, and land.
Mars: Injury by weapons, killing, imprisonment, suffering from disease, anxiety, and sudden exhaustion in the household. It constantly creates fear from thieves, fire, grief, and loss of wealth. The period of Mars is truly a giver of fear.
Mercury: Association with divine women, a very happy mind, days spent in play, luxury, and enjoyment. There is a quick purification of various types of family members and servants when the period of Mercury arrives.
Jupiter: Wealth from the kingdom, combined with humility and fame; abundance of silver, bows, and grain. Religious merit, wealth, and desires are fulfilled, and there is purification of one's own circle of servants. These are the powers of Jupiter's period.
Venus: Skill in treating friends, dalliance with beautiful women, the white umbrella a symbol of royalty, and receiving territory honored by the King. With horses, elephants, and chariots, one's heart's desires are fulfilled, and the Fortune of the Kingdom is certain.
Saturn: False accusations, killing, imprisonment, and loss of nights. Friends and family turn their faces away. Hopes become disappointments, and travels are fruitless. Saturn brings the distress of poverty and falling from one's position. position
Rahu: The wise say Rahu brings confusion of mind, loss of courage, obstacles, and enmity with sinful people. Disease, separation, loss of wealth, and danger from poison occur; it truly brings the loss of what remains of one's life.
These are the results of the Great Periods (Mahadashas). In the system of 108 years Ashtottari Dasha, there is no period for Ketu.
In the VimshottariThe 120-year dasha system system, if Saturn is at the end, beginning, or middle... not ...it is said: Headaches, fever, heat, or bile diseases occur, or there is trouble from the King or from sins in the sub-periods of men.
If there is an aspect of a beneficial planet or the Sun is in a favorable house, it becomes the destroyer of disease and the giver of all prosperity.
This ends the Sun's period.
In the ripening of the periods of Saturn and the Sun, there is gain of wealth and happiness. Wealth is obtained from women, and one's mother is honored. The arrival of clothes, ornaments, and the coming of guests. One gains wealth from one's own group; such is the result of Venus and the Moon. In a sinful period, however, there is the onset of cold fever, diseases in the family, indigestion, and sluggishness of the body caused by water.
