In the reduction chart, there is no purpose for the Ekadhipatya Shodhana Reduction based on "lordship of two signs" by a single planet; this is the proper discernment.
This concludes the first process. ||1|| Now, the method for calculating the Madhyayu Pinda The "middle-age sum" or raw total of longevity for the purpose of determining the lifespan.
It is as follows: In each individual Ashtakavarga A system of points or "benefic dots" contributed by planets to the twelve zodiac signs, for every zodiac sign, the points remaining after the Trikona Trinal reduction and Ekadhipatya reductions are placed below.
Place the points of the seven signs
Each point should be multiplied by its respective Graha Gunakara Planetary multiplier located below it. All these planetary sums should be added together and recorded. Similarly, for the signs where no planets are situated, the points in those signs should be multiplied by their respective Rashi Gunakara Zodiac sign multiplier. These should be added together and the "sign sum" recorded.
The planetary sum and the sign sum are then combined and multiplied by seven. This total is divided by the number twenty-seven, also known as the Mandala A "circle" or cycle, here referring to the 27 lunar mansions.
The resulting quotient represents the Years.
The remainder is multiplied by twelve and divided by the Mandala; the quotient represents the Months.
The remainder of that is multiplied by thirty and divided by the Mandala; the quotient represents the Days.
The remainder of that is multiplied by sixty and divided by the Mandala; the quotient represents the Ghatis A traditional unit of time equal to 24 minutes. In this manner, the smaller units like Vikalas Seconds of arc or time and Palas are to be calculated.
When these are unified, it becomes the Madhyayu Pinda. This is the second process. ||2||
Now, the Mandala Shuddhi Rectification of the cycle of the Madhyayu Pinda must be performed.
In this way, the Madhyayu Pinda for all eight Ashtakavargas The seven planets plus the Ascendant should be calculated.
