The following text describes the rules for "Ekadhipatya Shodhana," or the reduction of points in the Ashtakavarga system when one planet rules two zodiac signs.
If the results the numerical points or 'bindus' are less in one sign and there is no planet present, and the results are greater in the other sign ruled by the same planet, one should reduce the greater value to match the lesser value in the sign without a planet. This is the second variation. || 2 ||
If the sign with the greater result contains a planet, and the other sign ruled by the same planet has a lesser result and is without a planet, then all the points in the sign with the lesser result should be discarded. This is the third variation. || 3 ||
If both signs are occupied by planets, one should never perform a reduction. This is the fourth variation. || 4 ||
If both signs are without planets and the results are equal, one should discard all points in both. This is the fifth variation. || 5 ||
If the results are equal and only one sign contains a planet, one should reduce all points in the sign without the planet. This is the sixth variation. || 6 ||
If one sign has points and the other is zero, keep the values as they are. This is the seventh variation. || 7 ||
When there is a zero in both signs, then no reduction is possible. This is the eighth variation. || 8 ||
The signs of Cancer and Leo ruled by the Moon and Sun respectively, who only rule one sign each are treated as separate domains with separate results. This is the ninth variation. || 9 ||
Thus ends the method for Ekadhipatya Shodhana Reduction based on dual lordship of signs. This method of Trikona Trinal and Ekadhipatya reduction is considered the same when reducing the lines of the Samudayika Ashtakavarga The collective chart of planetary points. Now,
Note on multiplication regarding the remaining lines after reduction: for those in signs without planets, multiply by the Rashi Gunakara Sign multiplier; for those in signs with planets, multiply by the Graha Gunakara Planetary multiplier. The remaining values after these reductions should be
