1 For Leo and Aries, the multipliers are ten; for Aquarius and Capricorn, they are eight. In Scorpio, they are said to be six, six, and seven; for Virgo and Libra, they are five. The remaining signs are eleven and eleven. The text describes the "Gunakara" or numerical multipliers used in longevity calculations for each zodiac sign.
2 These are the multipliers for the signs in their respective order. For Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, and the others, the numbers are ten, eight, seven, and two. These should be increased according to the strength of one's own sign. If a planet is present in the sign, that portion should be increased by the planet's own value. After multiplying the parts in this way, one should multiply the sum again by seven. This means that after combining the "Sign-sum" and the "Planet-sum," the resulting total is multiplied once more.
When divided by twenty-seven original: "Saptavimshati", the result provides the years of life. By multiplying the remainder by twelve, thirty, sixty, and sixty, one arrives at the months, days, hours term: Ghati (a unit of time equal to 24 minutes), and minutes term: Pala (a unit of time equal to 24 seconds). This means that by dividing the remainders, the specific time units are established. This calculation provides the "mean" or average lifespan.
Corrected To find the "accurate" original: "Spashta" lifespan, a purification of the calculation term: Samskara (refers to mathematical corrections or refinements) is required. For the sake of achieving this accurate result, one must perform subtractions and additions of the loss? involving the number 324, and the values of 4, 65, and 5. These refinements will be explained further. It is proclaimed that twenty-seven years is the base divisor used here.
