1: Time of Birth: Determining the precise lunar mansion original: "Nakshatra" at the moment of birth; determining the male or female gender of the newborn original: "Jataka" based on calculations; knowledge of the presence of the mother and father at the time of birth through planetary calculations; and estimating the conditions of the delivery room.
I bow to the son of Goddess Bhavani, the elephant-faced Lord, whose pair of feet are worshipped at the commencement of all tasks by the gods—the illustrious Four-faced One Brahma, the Imperishable One Vishnu, Shiva, and Indra. He possesses four hands adorned with a noose, weapons, and sweetmeats, and he is the protector of the sun-like glorious King Vikramaditya. ॥ 1 ॥
At the beginning of every auspicious undertaking, I offer my salutations to the elephant-headed Lord Ganesha, the son of Goddess Bhavani. His feet are duly worshipped by the gods including Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh Shiva, and Indra. In his four hands, the noose and other weapons along with sweetmeats Laddus look magnificent. He is the one who protects King Vikramaditya, who is as majestic as the sun.
I bow to the Great Goddess Mahakalika, who resides on the auspicious left side of the Lord of Desire Shiva, and who grants all the cherished desires of her devotees. She holds a conch, a discus, and the gestures of fearlessness and granting boons in her hands. Seated upon a lion, she is adorned with a crescent moon upon her head and shines with three eyes; she is the protector of the sun-like glorious King Vikramaditya. ॥ 2 ॥
