To one who is of peaceful nature, pure, of excellent conduct, whose mind is solely devoted to the service of the Teacher original: "Guru", who is firm in resolve and grateful for favors received—only to such a disciple should the knowledge of the breath-sound be given. || 13 ||
Meaning—One of peaceful temperament, pure, possessing excellent conduct, whose mind is fixed on devotion to the Teacher, and who is firm-minded and mindful of kindnesses—to such a disciple alone should the breath-sound be granted. || 13 ||
original: "Dushte-cha-durjane-kruddhe-nastike-gurutalpage | Heenasattve-durachare-swarajnanam-na-diyate ||"
To one who is wicked, evil-minded, angry, an atheist, one who violates the Teacher's bed original: "gurutalpage"; a grave sin involving betrayal of the teacher's household, the weak-willed, and the ill-behaved—to them the knowledge of the breath should not be given. || 14 ||
Meaning—He who is wicked, a bad person, wrathful, an atheist, one who consorts with the Teacher's wife, the impatient, and the immoral—to him do not give the knowledge of the breath.
Listen, O Goddess, to the supreme knowledge situated within the body which I have spoken of, by the mere understanding of which one attains omniscience. || 15 ||
Meaning—O Goddess referring to Parvati, as this text is a dialogue between Shiva and Parvati, listen to the excellent knowledge residing within the body as told by me, through the mere knowledge of which one becomes all-knowing. || 15 ||
Within the breath-sound are the Vedas and the Scriptures; within the breath-sound is the highest celestial music; within the breath-sound is the entire three-fold world; the breath-sound is the very form of the Self. || 16 ||
