In the performance of rituals for peace, governance, and specific actions, three types of lunar mansions are remembered for men. I shall explain these five methods of ritual application through the placement of planets and stars, so that these actions may be perfected even in the supplementary rites. || 1 || Neither destruction nor the giving of ritual fees alone brings liberation; rather, one should perform the work against an enemy with a restrained mind through the prescribed forms. Just as the form of a curlew or a camel might appear in a dream, or a harsh cry is heard, these are signs of doubt. If the ritual is performed with sharp, fierce, or mixed elements, it should be done; however, one should not perform it with gentle means if the goal is the subjection of a foe. || 2 || If the ritual is named according to its appearance or if it is seen to be of a certain form, then it is mixed with sharp poisons and fierce elements. Only a measure of this should be performed by those who are wise. || 10 || Under the influence of the moist stars, the deities of the waters (Varuna), the goddess of destruction (Nirriti), and the stars of Revati, these become the "heart-piercing" stars used in rituals of death (Marana). 1 || These actions should be performed during the second half of the day... 6 ...

For the subjection of others (Vashya), this canopy of Varuna is used. In the group of five, they also perform rituals for the wealth-giving deities. 12 The three "Latter" stars (Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada), the five stars starting with Hasta, and the stars of Vasu (Dhanishtha) and Punarvasu—these days are beneficial for subjection. 23 By naming the sun, the teacher (Jupiter), or the day of the sun (Sunday), and using pearls, gold, coral, and shells, these rituals become successful. || 24 || Under the star of the Creator (Rohini), the gods, and the two stars of Punarvasu, it is said that men should offer coral, blankets, gold, and conch shells. If these are given with strength... 24 Savitri (Hasta), Pushya, and Shravana are recommended for these rituals... on the day of Jupiter (Thursday), the stars of the Deer (Mrigashira) and the Sun (Punarvasu)... 16 And so says the sage Vashishtha: The earth and...
Thus ends the eleventh chapter.
