In the Flag and the Smoke, the concern is with Minerals Dhatu: inanimate matter or metals; in the Elephant and the Lion, it is with Roots Mula: vegetable matter or plants.
In the Dog, Donkey, Bull, and Crow, the wise say the concern is with Living Beings Jiva: humans or animals.

In the Flag, a leaf is to be known; in the Smoke, likewise a flower.
In the Lion, a fruit is to be known; in the Dog, one should place wood and similar items.

In the Elephant, a seed is to be known; in the Crow, husk is remembered.
