THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
An Account of the Genii original: Genii; refers to guardian spirits or guiding entities believed to attend individuals or Familiar Spirits, both Good and Bad, that are said to attend Men in this Life; and what sensory perceptions some persons have had of them (particularly the Author's own experiences over many years).
Also regarding the appearances of spirits after death; divine dreams, divinations, people with "second sight" original: Second Sighted Persons; refers to those believed to have the power to see future events or spirits, etc.
Likewise, the power of witches and the reality of other magical operations are clearly asserted. It includes a refutation of Dr. Balthasar Bekker's The World Bewitched original: World bewitch'd; a skeptical 1691 work by a Dutch minister that argued against the physical influence of the devil and spirits and of other authors who have opposed the belief in such things.
