Having promised this book to the world for a long time, perhaps the more joking original: "Jocose" part of mankind may now be inclined to say:
What will this boaster produce worthy of such a grand opening? The mountains are in labor, and a ridiculous mouse will be born. original: "Quid ferat hic tanto dignum promissor hiatu? Parturiunt montes, &c." This is a quote from Horace’s Ars Poetica, mocking writers who make grand promises but deliver meager results.
Whatever the case may be, I have here fulfilled my promise. Although I am not convinced that everyone will agree with what I present here—as I do not claim, in this subject, to provide mathematical proof original: "Mathematical Demonstration"; refers to a logical argument that is undeniably true, like a geometric proof—
