(21) In the direction of the demons the Southwest, and in the corner, one should use gold... this has been told by the great sages... (22) Brahma should be worshiped with honey in the center; the directions are for the solar deities. The pathways are to be adorned with lotus flowers. The gods led by Yama God of death and justice reside in the corners in sixty-eight divisions... (23) In the corner, the gods are assigned to the steps; the remaining space is for Varuna, Agni God of fire, and the winds. The pathways of the sun are for the celestial physicians...
The knowledge of the divisions has been told by the greatest of sages. This science is well-established for the placement of houses and for the performance of the Koti Homa A massive ritual involving ten million offerings into a sacred fire. For the great mountain Meru and for the pedestal of the Linga The aniconic symbol of the god Shiva, the same rules apply for the steps and the protection of the home. In the division of the sacrificial pit Kunda, the offerings and the auspicious mantras are prescribed. In the fire sacrifice Homa, one should make one hundred offerings to the gods, or specifically twenty-eight for each... (28) Wheat, mung beans, and clarified butter are prescribed for the midday ritual. One should offer these with the sacrificial ladle... (29) With honey... one should offer meat-rice original: "mamsodana"... and various types of sweet cakes Modakas. One should offer the Bali Ritual food offering according to the rules... (30) For Sugriva, one should offer white flowers and milk; for Varuna, wine; and for the demons, oil and sesame seeds.
