The king’s residence should be adorned with gateways and surrounded by various structures. For the king, a throne Simhasana; literally "lion-seat" should be fashioned that is incomparable in its craftsmanship. It should be known to bring prosperity and increase the strength of the ruler. This throne, marked by the lion motif, is for the moon-like king. १८. A sacrificial altar Vedi should be constructed, and the speaker says it should be beautiful and equipped with a ceremonial archway Torana. It should be free from defects, featuring high cornices and exquisite carvings, standing as a testament to the wealth of the kingdom. १९. Thus end the characteristics of the throne.
For those who lack wisdom, a flag Dhvaja should be raised. At two cubits original: "dvi-haste", it brings beauty and is known by the name of prosperity. If it is detached from its auspicious signs, it leads to misfortune. २०. O beloved, if the structure is crooked, it leads to the loss of sons and constant disputes. If it is built according to the sacred sounds original: "dhruva-hum", it brings light and fame. The king who understands these distinctions in form and measurement will see his kingdom flourish. ३१. A ruler who is devoid of this knowledge of proportions will lose his power. ३२. The wise architect should ensure the seat is firm. The five forms of the throne, including the one marked by the eagle Garuda, have been proclaimed by the ancient teachers.

Beyond the assembly hall, the king’s prowess is displayed through his dwelling. In the house of a wise protector of the earth, the measurements must be precise. ३४. For a king, the site should be divided into sixteen parts, or even a single supreme पद Pada; a ritual grid square for the wise. This brings victory and excellence to the residence. ३५. Half of the knowledge pertains to the measurements of the inner chambers. The glory of the king is reflected in the height and width of the structure. २४. Those who have conquered their enemies in battle and are devoted to the gods should have their dwellings adorned with elephants, horses, and celestial figures. In the middle of the four-part grid, an altar should be placed. ३७. Thus ends the section on the [measurements of] the mind-pleasing structures.
The altar should be made of gold or precious materials in the house of a king. It should be radiant like the sun and bring welfare to the ruler. The corners should be spacious and decorated with carvings of the goddess of fortune Sridhara. In the house of a king, the pillars should be beautifully painted and the structure should be complete in all its parts. ३८. One should perform the consecration with the proper mantras, ensuring the height and the circumference are never deficient. २५
