Bowing with devotion, Parvati spoke to the Ever-Auspicious One.

Parvati said: O God of Gods, Lord of the Universe, who bestows grace upon devotees! O Supreme Lord, tell me a question that will benefit the world. Tell me of the nature of the stars and the determination of their various fruits results or influences. Tell me all this, my Lord, for you are all-knowing. Hearing these words of the Goddess, the Great Lord was pleased. Smiling, the Lord of the Worlds spoke to his beloved, who was filled with affection, regarding this secret question which is difficult to obtain even in the three worlds. Shiva said:

The Qualities of the Ashwini Star are Examined

Verse: The binding of weapons, chariots, vehicles, entering a city, medicine, mantras, houses, palaces, and the consecration of cities These are activities traditionally favored under this star. Journeys, coronations, Vedic sacrifices, initiations, and the wearing of the sacred thread are performed as peaceful rituals during the time of Ashwini. The letters for this star are Chu, Che, Cho, La. Its color is black.
