Arjuna the hero of the Mahabharata was born under this star. After 30 Ghatikas about 12 hours, the "poisonous moments" begin; travel should be avoided then. After the first two Ghatikas, eating sesame rice is beneficial. Travel toward the North-West is auspicious. If a fever begins under this star, there is a danger to life, or at least twenty days of misfortune. To pacify this Shanti ritual: The deity (the Ancestors) is described as black-colored, holding a rosary and a water-pot, with a hand in the boon-giving gesture, having four arms. One should worship a golden idol of the deity clothed in black. Offer black agarwood incense, Champaka flowers, incense of ghee and guggulu, and an offering of ghee-cakes. Perform the sixteen-fold worship with the prescribed mantras. Offer 108 oblations of sesame, rice, and ghee into the fire while reciting the Gayatri mantra. Offer a sacrifice Bali toward the South with sandalwood and garlands mixed with sesame. By doing this, one becomes happy within twenty-one days. A black cow should be gifted.
