Invocation

A traditional 'Kappu' or protective prayer to ensure the successful completion of the work.

The feet of the Effulgence that fills the beginning and the end,
The feet of the Primordial Shiva and the Goddess Uma,
The feet of my Guru, Nandi, who is like a radiant jewel,
The feet of Ganesha, the lord of the Vedas, and his consort Vallabhai—
Praising these with justice, I shall clearly explain the nature of good and evil in this world,
Without wavering from their true state.
To teach this, I present the Chintamani of Astrology Chintamani: A mythical wish-fulfilling gem; here, a metaphor for a text that grants all knowledge.,
I, Romarishi, shall proclaim it. (1)

I proclaim that this book consists of two hundred verses,
This famous book is the very essence of astrology, sir.
Search for and examine the two hundred verses spoken by Ramadevar A reference to another celebrated Siddhar or sage-scientist in the Tamil tradition.,
Who spoke with the same systematic approach as I.
If you master both these collections together,
Your predictions will never prove false in this ancient world.
But if you mockingly look at only one of these two books
And attempt to speak, your words will surely turn out to be lies. (2)
