This is not like the Ganges river that hides its source;
Out of reverence for the Siddhas (perfected masters of medicine and spirituality), I have yielded.
Seek the meaning within the five hundred verses I wrote previously,
But look for total clarity within these fifty. 3.
If you ask what "clarity" is, can the subtlest secret be easily seen?
Gather and examine the fourteen verses; look into this book of one hundred.
Is the path clear in the six sections of the Suthira (treatise)? No.
Except for the Nigandu (lexicon/encyclopedia) spoken by Nandi (the primal Guru of the Siddhas), nothing else compares.
In his eight hundred verses, Machamuni (a renowned Siddha) hid the truth deceptively;
Will the true intent not strike your mind? 4.
All the Siddhas sang without making the meaning plain;
To know the secrets, one needs the support of the Guru’s pillar The 'Guru-pillar' refers to the initiation or guidance of a spiritual master which acts as a foundational support for the student.
This effort will not go in vain; it is for those of great merit to see,
For others, how could it appear? What is hidden shall appear in this book!
I have poured forth Medicine, Alchemical Yoga, and the path to the "Angular Mountain" Original: "Konamalai". Likely referring to a sacred peak or a specific state in internal yoga;
Keep it in your memory without wavering.
See the practical hand-methods in the five hundred verses. 5.
What is seen in this world? Medicine is the central focus.
Observe the results: the path of Chariya (the initial path of physical service and right conduct).
See how the calcined powder of Sukkathasingi (a specific alchemical preparation, likely involving litharge or lead-based minerals) is released;
If that is missed, medicine is a wasted effort.
If there is no one to speak of the Guru’s feet with devotion,
My book will speak to you.
Do not speak in anger; I have revealed the path of the "Horn" Original: "Singi-markkam". Refers to the path of working with potent mineral ores or "Singi" (which can mean lead, sulfur, or toxic minerals) in alchemy
By the grace of the Sage of Pothigai Sage Agastya, the legendary father of Tamil medicine who resides at Pothigai Hill alone. 6.
