If a lizard speaks from the right side and then moves to the left,
It brings great strength; like a parasol-bearing king,
The sons of that house will be free from defects and illness,
They shall possess great power; such is the nature of this offering.
(Meaning) When the master of the house of high status? goes and stands upon the site, if a gecko original: "kavuli" - a common house gecko, often used in divination first chirps from the right and then from the left, it is beautiful. The owner of that house will be beloved by kings and will live happily and courageously with his sons. — Thus it is said.
If a white pigeon, a shining cow, and likewise
A white bull are seen in their full form,
That house will be of the highest excellence and beauty,
The dwellers of that house on this earth will live like the gods.
(Meaning) If a white pigeon, a white cow, and a white bull are seen while you are standing on the house site, it is highly auspicious. — Thus it is said.
If ants break their formation and scatter, do not proceed;
If termites are seen spreading, do not consider it;
If bees are seen burrowing, do not attempt to build;
O woman of sweet speech, these are the signs shown.
(Meaning) When the two aforementioned people likely referring to the architect and the patron stand on the site—if ants scatter instead of moving in a line, if termites are spread about, or if bees are seen burrowing or swarming—the house construction will not be successful. — Thus it is said.
If the Parandai bird The Brown Fish Owl or a similar nocturnal bird used in augury sings melodiously from the right,
And then flies from the right to the left,
The house will rise high, and bright benefits will follow;
No harm shall come; it will happen exactly as described.
(Meaning) When the two aforementioned people stand on the site, if the Parandai bird sings on the right and then moves from the right to the left, all sorrows for the master of the house will vanish and goodness will prevail. — Thus it is said.
A drunkard, a fisherman, an ascetic, a cripple, a dynamic oil-presser,
A man with a mutilated nose, a hunchback, or a blind man—if these appear in front,
The success of the house will vanish; do not even consider it,
O woman with beautiful hair, this is the way it is classified.
(Meaning) If a drunkard, a fisherman, a cemetery ascetic original: "sudukattu-andi" - a mendicant who frequents cremation grounds, a cripple, an oil-presser, a person with a nose disease, a hunchback, or a blind person are seen approaching from the front, the prosperity of the house construction will be destroyed. — Thus it is said.
