original: "மனை யடி சாத்திரம்" (Manai Adi Sastram) — A traditional treatise on Vastu Shastra and architectural astrology.
If one builds a house on days without legs, bodies, or heads,
The temple of the home will fall into ruin and desolation.
Even if women with dark, cloud-like hair reach puberty then, it is ill-fated;
Even if the people of the world set out on a journey, they shall find no goodness.
(Meaning): The "Legless Days" are Karthigai, Uthiram, and Uthiradam (3). The "Bodyless Days" are Mirugashirisham, Chithirai, and Avittam (3). The "Headless Days" are Punarpoosam, Visakam, and Poorattathi (3). Building a house on these nine days leads to ruin. A woman who matures reaches menarche during these times will be barren. Those who travel on these days will suffer distress.
If Venus is in front, the ancient lineage will face death and ruin;
If Venus is to the right eye, known wealth will be lost;
If Venus is behind, one will live with great happiness;
If Venus is to the left eye, there is no sorrow at all.
(28) (Meaning): It is not good for a house or for entering a new home if the planet Venus Sukran is positioned directly in front or to the "right eye" a specific astrological calculation of the planet's bearing. If Venus is behind or to the "left eye," it is considered highly auspicious.
From the first day of the lunar cycle to the eighth, the Yogini moves;
On the ninth she is in the sky, on the tenth she is on the earth;
From the eleventh to the fifth of the next phase, she follows the path;
From the sixth she returns as before;
Thus across the thirty days of the lunar month, understand her place;
Listen to what is good for worldly journeys;
When the rays of Venus are not facing you, it is good.
(Meaning): Starting from the East and moving clockwise through the eight directions, the Yogini a directional energy or deity resides from the first day (Prathamai) to the eighth day (Attami) of the waxing moon. Following this, on the ninth day (Navami) she is in the sky, and on the tenth (Dasami) she is on the earth. From the eleventh day of the waxing phase to the thirteenth day of the waning phase, she resides as before. From the sixth day of the waning phase to the new moon, she follows the same pattern. Thus, across the thirty days of the lunar month, the dates when she resides in the Southeast, the sky, or the earth are forbidden for travel and other auspicious acts. Other directions, as well as having Venus to the right or behind, are very beneficial.
Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirruthi, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera, Isanam,
Along with the Sky and Earth, these ten in order from the first day...
This verse lists the guardians of the directions to explain the Yogini's daily rotation.
