original: "Cosmographicus Liber Petri Apiani Mathematici studiose collectus." Cosmography was a Renaissance science that aimed to map the entire universe, including both the heavens (astronomy) and the Earth (geography).

The globe shows the continents of "AFRICA" and "ASIA", with "Taprobana" An ancient name for Sri Lanka also labeled. A vertical band labeled "Mobile Meridian" original: "Mobilis Meridiani" and a horizontal band labeled "Horizon" encircle the globe. To the left of the globe is the word "West" original: "Occidens" and to the right is "East" original: "Oriens", both printed vertically in a decorative Gothic script. The stand features scrolled feet and a central support. At the base, there is a small diagram of a quadrant or similar astronomical instrument.
