It is stated that it appears the current craze for Numerology original: "Ankajyotish" in the Western world has its original source in the Kerala Astrology of India.
About the Present Work — The present work is a compendium. There is a state of uncertainty regarding the author of this book; however, because the phrase "Spoken by Muladeva" original: "Muladevena Bhashitam" is attached in several places throughout the text, it can be believed that a scholar named Muladeva compiled it. The first half of the book could certainly be the composition of Muladeva. There are significant textual variations original: "pathabheda" between the copies published from two different locations and the material obtained from other references. Errors are also plentiful. Therefore, after thoroughly correcting the text, a Hindi commentary named Richa has been composed along with the prose-order Anvaya: the logical connection of words in a verse to make the meaning clear. In the commentary, the clarification of profound subjects has been done well. Through many tables, this work is presented to the readers in a way that is useful for students and the general public. The style of the commentary is not pedantic but is suited to the present time.
Composition Date of the Work — Like the author of this work, its date of composition is also unknown. However, this book is extremely useful for everyone from ordinary astrologers to the general public. It does not contain complex mathematical processes. For an astrologer to obtain accurate answers through this, it is necessary for them to be a believer in the divine Astika: one who accepts the authority of the Vedas or the existence of a higher reality, discerning, and of virtuous conduct.
