Connection: If the seeker touches their entire body with either the right or the left hand, then the query is classified as "Smoky" (Abhidhumita). In this query, there may be the arrival of friends and a small amount of profit. || 21 ||
Commentary: When a seeker touches many parts of their body, or more than one limb, with either their right or left hand while asking a question, it is called a Smoky Query. In this situation, a small profit is obtained, and there is a brief meeting with friends, relatives, or loved ones. || 21 ||
The original Sanskrit text mentions "touching all limbs" (Sarvanga-sparsha). Since a person cannot literally touch every part of their body simultaneously, a student of this subject might find it difficult to make a judgment. Therefore, "touching all limbs" should be understood as the seeker continuously moving or sliding their hand over various parts of their body while asking the question. The term "Smoky" (Abhidhumita) implies being surrounded by smoke; this gesture is so named because the hand moves restlessly over the body like drifting smoke.
Connection: Simple/Direct. || 22 ||
Commentary: If the seeker asks a question while crying, terrified, or in a state of grief; or if they ask the question in or near a "lowly place" original: "Nicha-sthala" (such as a hospital, post-mortem room, cremation ground, battlefield, accident site, deep pit, basement, slaughterhouse, or a foul-smelling area); or if they ask without any sense of reverence, then the query asked under these conditions is called Burnt (Dagdha) Dagdha refers to a state where the potential of the question has been "incinerated" by negative omens.. This type of query brings mourning, agony, suffering, and significant loss. || 22 ||
The word "Dagdha" means burnt. The gestures made by the seeker in this instance indicate that the "seeds" of effort sown for the task have been scorched; they will not bear fruit. Due to failure, one will have to endure intense despair and pain.
Now, this science illuminates questions regarding the three periods of time (past, present, and future), including matters of living beings, minerals, and plants original: "Jiva-Dhatu-Mula"; the location of lost items and whether they will be recovered; imprisonment and liberation; life and death; victory and defeat; profit and loss; and arrivals or departures. This science is never otherwise (it is unfailing). || 23 ||
Connection: Simple/Direct. || 23 ||
Commentary: Through this science, one gains knowledge of questions related to living beings, metals/minerals, and botanical roots. One learns whether a lost object will be found, its current location, matters of captivity and release, life and death, victory and defeat, profit and loss, and coming and going. The light of this scripture makes the answers to these subjects visible to the eye. || 23 ||
