In English, the word Astrology is derived from the roots Astro (star) and Logos (logic or reason). It is our common experience that when the full moon rises, the tides in the ocean swell, and conversely, on the day of the new moon, the ocean's strength diminishes. We also observe that for many suffering from illnesses, their ailments worsen on the new moon, and deaths frequently occur on those nights. From this, we can understand that the Moon possesses certain specific powers regarding the Earth and the living beings residing upon it. If these two spheres among the Navagrahas The Nine Planets/Heavenly Bodies of Indian astronomy—the Sun and the Moon—have such authority over the world and its inhabitants, could not the other planets also possess similar influences? If they have such powers that touch everyone in general, could these planetary spheres not also possess specific powers that affect each individual in distinct ways? If these questions become the subject of our reflection, there is certainly no way for us to lack faith in Astrology.
Western scientists such as 'Dante', 'Pythagoras', 'Bacon', Kepler, and 'Democritus' were believers in the science of light original: "Jyothishshasthram" - referring here to the combined study of astronomy and astrology just like the Eastern scholars.
