These are the ones. Not only them, but the Nagas in Nagaland and the Sarps (from the land of Sarpya) in Poland are considered to be the descendants of Kadru and Kashyapa In Hindu mythology, Kadru is the mother of all serpents and a wife of the sage Kashyapa. In this manner, many sages became famous in the Puranas Ancient Hindu texts containing mythology and history under the name of Kashyapa.
The author of the present text was born into the lineage of the supreme Kashyapa. He authored many works. He composed the Kashyapa Samhita. He was an expert in Kumara Tantra (the treatment of pediatric diseases) and Agada Tantra (the science of toxicology/poisons). In the Mahabharata, in the history of King Parikshit, the mention of Kashyapa appears as a physician specializing in poisons.
The Kashyapa Jataka A foundational text on horoscopy has attained a prominent place among the texts of the science of astrology. Verses from his works are found in texts such as the Hora Ratnam and Brihat Daivajna Ranjanam. There are fourteen chapters in the Kashyapa Jataka. In the first two chapters, there is a discussion regarding the combinations of stars and planets and the span of life. From the third chapter to the fourteenth chapter, the effects of the planets when positioned in the twelve houses (starting from the Ascendant) are discussed. This type of astrological analysis is not available in other texts. This can be considered the unique specialty of this work. As if fitting the entire ocean into a single drop, he explained the positions of the planets in the twelve houses very extensively in just 260 verses. Because of this, Daivajnas (astrologers/soothsayers) who write horoscopes will find great benefit in the matter of predicting results. He declared his devotion to the sage Chyavana by stating that he is conveying these results according to the words of the great sage Chyavana.
By reading this book, kind-hearted readers will easily understand the results that occur when planets are in various positions. The translation of this book has been done according to the commentary of the great sage Abhaya Katyayana.
If this book provides even a little benefit to students of astrology and those interested in the science of astrology, I shall consider my efforts successful.
I humbly request that kind-hearted scholars point out any errors in the writing or printing of this book so that I may correct them in the next edition.
