If a child is born when a planet is in its exalted sign or its own sign within the eighth house, that child shall be free from misfortunes. original: "Niramayam shishum jatam kuryannashtamaga yadi" - A Sanskrit verse indicating that specific planetary placements in the 8th house, usually considered malefic, can actually protect a newborn from illness or early death.
A person born at a time when a planet is in its exalted sign Exalted: The sign where a planet reaches its maximum strength or its own sign within the eighth house Eighth House: Traditionally the house of longevity and obstacles will be devoid of calamities.
The twelve-fold results in the Ascendant (Lagna):-
The four lines above are a translation of the Sanskrit verses provided in the OCR: "Svocche svoccha navamshecha..." which outline the twelve environmental conditions of a planet.
Any planet situated in the Ascendant (Lagna) manifests its results based on twelve states: 1. Exalted sign 2. Exalted Navamsha: A 1/9th divisional chart used for fine-tuning planetary strength 3. Benefic division 4. Debilitated sign 5. Debilitated Navamsha 6. The six divisions Shadvarga: Six types of divisional charts of a malefic planet 7. Friendly sign 8. Friendly Navamsha 9. Vargottama: When a planet occupies the same sign in both the main chart and the 1/9th chart, increasing its power 10. Enemy sign 11. Enemy Navamsha 12. Its own sign or its own Navamsha.
This matter is explained according to the teachings of the Sage Chyavana.
Special Note:- The name of Sage Chyavana is mentioned among the eighteen great masters of Astrology Jyotisha Shastra. However, currently, the verses from his texts are primarily found within Sanskrit commentaries such as the Brihat Daivajna Ranjana and others. In the Narada Samhita, Chyavana's name is cited as one of the eighteen propagators of astrology. In this verse, Sage Kashyapa conveys the results of planets in the Ascendant according to Chyavana's words. From this, we can understand the high status Chyavana holds in the field of astrology.
The exalted positions of the planets are being explained:-
1. Exalted Planets: Aries for the Sun, Taurus for the Moon, Capricorn for Mars, Virgo for Mercury, Cancer for Jupiter, Pisces for Venus, and Libra for Saturn are the exalted signs.
2. Exalted Navamsha: The Sun reaches exaltation in the Aries Navamsha, the Moon in Taurus Navamsha, Mars in Capricorn Navamsha, Mercury in Virgo Navamsha, Jupiter in Cancer Navamsha, Venus in Pisces Navamsha, and Saturn in the Libra Navamsha.
