3. Benefic Divisions (Shubha Varga): Jupiter and Venus are considered naturally benefic. The full Moon and Mercury (when associated with benefics and free from the influence of malefic planets) are also designated as benefic. When a majority of benefic planets occupy the Hora a division of a sign into two parts, Drekkana a division into three parts or decans, Saptamansha one-seventh division, Navamansha one-ninth division, crucial for strength, Dwadasansha one-twelfth division, and Trimshansha one-thirtieth division, they should be understood as belonging to the Benefic Divisions.
4. Debilitated Signs (Neecha Rashi): The planets are stated to be in Neecha debilitation or their weakest state when positioned as follows: the Sun in Libra, the Moon in Scorpio, Mars in Cancer, Mercury in Pisces, Jupiter in Capricorn, Venus in Virgo, and Saturn in Aries.
5. Debilitated Sub-divisions (Neechansha): A planet is considered to be in a debilitated state if it occupies its debilitated Navamansha the 1/9th sub-divisional chart. This occurs when the Sun is in the Libra Navamansha, the Moon in Scorpio, Mars in Cancer, Mercury in Pisces, Jupiter in Capricorn, Venus in Virgo, and Saturn in the Aries Navamansha.
6. The Six Cruel Divisions (Krura Shad-varga): The Sun, Mars, and Saturn are designated as malefic planets. Mercury is considered malefic when joined with other malefic planets. Mercury is of a neutral gender original: "napumsaka", meaning eunuch or neuter; therefore, the influence of the benefic or malefic planets it associates with falls upon it. If Mercury is aspected by a malefic, it must be considered malefic. The waning Moon should also be considered malefic. When any malefic planet occupies the malefic divisions of the Hora, Drekkana, Saptamansha, Navamansha, Dwadasansha, and Trimshansha, it is considered to be in the Shad-varga six-fold division of malefic planets.
7. Friendly Placement (Mitra-gata): When any planet is naturally situated in the zodiac sign of its friend, it is considered to be in a "Friendly Sign."
8. Friendly Sub-division (Mitra Navamansha-gata): When a planet occupies the Navamansha division belonging to a friendly planet, it is considered to be in a "Friendly Sub-division."
9. The Best Division (Vargottama): This is determined by examining both the Rashi the primary zodiac sign and the Navamansha the 1/9th division. When a planet occupies the same sign in both the Rashi and the Navamansha, it is called Vargottama literally "the best division," indicating great strength. For example, if a planet in the sign of Aries is also in the Aries Navamansha, or in Taurus and the Taurus Navamansha, and so on for the other signs, it is Vargottama.
For example: If a planet in Aries is at 3 degrees and 5 minutes, it falls within the Aries Navamansha (which extends up to 3 degrees and 20 minutes in Aries), making it Vargottama. The others should be understood in the same manner.
10. Inimical Sign Placement (Shatru-rashi Gata): When a planet is situated in the sign of its natural enemy, it is considered to be in an "Inimical Sign." For example, Venus and Saturn are enemies of the Sun. Therefore, if the Sun is in Taurus, Libra, Capricorn, or Aquarius, it is in an inimical sign.
11. Inimical Sub-division (Shatru Navamansha-gata): When a planet occupies a Navamansha belonging to an enemy planet, it is considered to be in an "Inimical Sub-division."
