Subtract the degrees and minutes from the mid-heaven original: "havyamadhye," referring to the meridian or tenth house, and then the precession of the equinoxes Ayanamsha: the longitudinal difference between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs should be subtracted. This results in the Ascendant Lagna: the degree of the zodiac rising on the eastern horizon. In another way, using the "Lanka" rising times Lankodaya: rising times of signs at the terrestrial equator, one should calculate the elapsed and remaining portions of the Sun's position.
Convert these into minutes of arc and subtract them from the western "natakala" the hour angle or time from the meridian. The remaining operations should be performed as before to find the Tenth House. Specifically: when there is an eastern hour angle, treat that as the desired time, use the equatorial rising times, and subtract the Sun's position; the remaining calculation is subtractive. When there is a western hour angle, treat that as the desired time, use the equatorial rising times, and subtract the Sun's position; the remaining calculation is additive. This results in the Tenth House.
Now, the method for determining the other houses from the Tenth House and the Ascendant is described. It is said: "By adding seven signs..." The Ascendant plus six signs original: "rashishatku," six signs or 180 degrees becomes the seventh house the descendant. Similarly, the fourth house the Nadir or Imum Coeli is determined. Thus, the four angular houses Kendra: the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses are established.
From the minutes of the desired time, subtract the local rising times of the signs passed and to be passed. || Take the remainder, multiply by 30, and divide by the rising time of the next sign to get degrees and minutes. || 22 ||
Subtract or add the precession of the equinoxes as required. Similarly, using equatorial rising times, subtract the elapsed and remaining portions from the time-minutes. || 23 ||
From the eastern or western hour angle, the Tenth House is found just like the Ascendant. By adding six signs to the Ascendant, the seventh house is found; from the Tenth, the fourth is found. || 24 ||
One-sixth of the difference between two houses added to the Ascendant creates the "junction." By adding that sixth part again and again, the three junctions and the houses are formed. || 25 ||
Thus, four houses are known. Now, to find the houses between the Ascendant and the fourth house: subtract the Ascendant from the fourth house. One-sixth of that remainder (in signs, degrees, etc.) should be added to the Ascendant. This becomes the "junction" Sandhi: the transition point or cusp between two astrological houses between the Ascendant and the second house. This is the end of the first house and the beginning of the second house; this rule applies everywhere.
By adding that same sixth part again to the junction, the second house is found. The second house plus the sixth part becomes the junction between the second and third houses. That junction plus the sixth part becomes the third house. That third house plus the sixth part becomes the junction between the third and fourth houses. In this way, the three junctions and the houses are produced. After that...
