...those who select a Rigvedic priest original: "Bahvricha" for the office of royal chaplain Purohitya: the position of a king’s domestic priest and advisor will undoubtedly see their country, kingdom, city, and ministers destroyed. The king who appoints a Yajurvedic priest original: "Adhvaryu" as his royal chaplain will soon be stripped of his wealth and transport such as chariots and horses and be killed by the strike of an enemy's weapon. Just as a lame person is unable to walk on the intended path, or as a bird newly hatched from an egg is unable to soar through the sky like a fully grown bird; so too, a king is unable to achieve progress or success through a Samavedic original: "Chhandoga" priest. Furthermore, if a priest from the Jalada or Maudga branches of the Atharvaveda serves as a king's chaplain, that king will be removed from his throne within ten or twelve months. In doing so, they have shown a complete lack of discernment original: "kandakanda vihinata" in their attempt to assert their own superiority.
A Rigvedic priest destroys the kingdom; a Yajurvedic priest destroys the sons.
A Samavedic priest destroys wealth; therefore, the Atharvavedic priest is the only true Guru.
Whether through ignorance or negligence, the king who takes a Rigvedic priest as his Guru
Will undoubtedly face the destruction of his country, kingdom, city, and ministers.
If a king appoints a Yajurvedic priest as his royal chaplain,
He is quickly slain by weapons, deprived of both wealth and his mounts.
Just as a lame man cannot travel the road, or a hatchling fly through the heavens,
Even so, with a Samavedic Guru, a king never achieves growth.
If the royal chaplain is from the Jalada branch, or somehow from the Maudga branch...
