Singhana, the ruler of the earth, who was born from the illustrious Jaitrapala and possesses a fragment of the glory of Vishnu original: "Lakshmikanta-lavah", has dispelled the cycle of worldly existence. He accumulated great wealth on the battlefield and acted as the punisher of the world. He overthrew the Lord of Mathura and the King of Kashi at the front of the battle; even the brave Hammira was defeated by his mere servant boy. || 6 ||
Formerly, the Supreme Being Purushottama/Vishnu took an incarnation in the Yadu clan for the welfare of the world. Glory to King Singhana referred to here as Siddhamahipati, who now protects this entire earth and protects me as well. || 7 ||
In the lineage of the sage Shandilya, there was a king among poets named Trivikrama. His son was Bhaskarabhatta, who was given the title "Lord of Knowledge" Vidyapati: a title of high academic or literary honor by King Bhoja the famous 11th-century polymath King of Dhar. || 8 ||
From him was born Govinda, the "All-Knowing," who was like the god Govinda Krishna himself. His son was Prabhakara, who was like a second sun original: "Prabhakara" also means 'sun'. || 9 ||
From him was born Manoratha, who fulfilled the desires original: "manoratha" of the virtuous. From him was born the illustrious Maheshvaracharya, a lord among poets. || 10 ||
His son was the illustrious and learned Bhaskara, whose feet were worshiped by crowds of poets, who was the root of the vine of sacred Vedic knowledge, and who resided at the feet of Lord Krishna original: "Kansari," the enemy of Kansa. He was a treasury of Brahminical wisdom. No disputant, however skilled, could ever succeed in a debate against his disciples. He was possessed of holy and virtuous fame. || 11 ||
Bhaskara's son was named Lakshmidhara, the chief among all scholars and a master of the meaning of the Vedas. He was a "Crowning Lion" original: "Chakravarti," indicating supremacy among logicians, skilled in discerning the essence of the sacrificial rituals Kratu-kriya: the performance of Vedic sacrifices. || 12 ||
Having recognized that Lakshmidhara was expert in the meaning of all the scriptures, King Jaitrapala formerly brought him from his home and made him the leader of the wise men in his court. || 13 ||
Verse— From him was born a son, Changadeva, the chief astrologer to the Emperor Singhana. It is he who establishes this college matha: a center for higher learning or a monastery for the purpose of spreading the scriptures composed by the illustrious master Bhaskaracharya. || 14 ||
The works composed by Bhaskara, such as the Crest-Jewel of Systems Siddhanta Shiromani: Bhaskara's magnum opus on astronomy and mathematics and others, as well as the works written by others in his lineage, must be studied and explained in my college regularly. || 15 ||
