If the Surya-Siddhanta had been received through a foreigner, Brahmagupta would certainly have written about it, because he clearly stated so for the Romaka-Siddhanta, which is undoubtedly foreign. The origin of the Suryaruna-Samvada original: सूर्यारुण-संवाद; a dialogue between the Sun God and his charioteer Aruna provided by Mahamahopadhyaya Pandit Sudhakar Dwivedi in his commentary Panchasiddhantika-Prakashika is unknown; therefore, it cannot be said who wrote it or on what basis it was written. Nityananda’s^1 writing that this was composed after 3600 years of the Kaliyuga The fourth and current age in the Hindu cycle of world ages had passed—that is, in Saka 421 or 499 AD, the same time that Aryabhata wrote his Aryabhatiya—is a delusion. Perhaps because of this delusion, Munishvara also accepted Aryabhata as the author of the Surya-Siddhanta. Al-Biruni’s claim that Latacharya or Latasimha created it is also an error^2, because neither Varahamihira nor Brahmagupta accepted Latacharya as the author of the Surya-Siddhanta. According to Varahamihira, Latacharya is a commentator on the Romaka and Paulisha Siddhantas. Lata's Ahargana^3 Ahargana|A mathematical calculation of the total number of elapsed days from a fixed starting epoch to a specific date belong to the time of sunset at Yavanapura literal: 'City of the Greeks/Ionians'; often referring to Alexandria or another western city influenced by Greek astronomy.
Thus, the opinion is clear that all the conjectures regarding the period of composition and the author of the Surya-Siddhanta remain unproven. Based on internal evidence, it can only be said that its development original: वृद्धि (vriddhi); growth or expansion began around 400 AD and concluded by 1200 AD. Initially, its expansion or revision might have been done by Varahamihira. Then, other revisers tried to bring it up-to-date The author uses the English phrase 'Up-to-date' transcribed into Hindi script by taking advantage of the observations original: वेध (Vedha); astronomical sightings or measurements of Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Manjula, and others. This revision process continued until Ranganatha fixed its verses by writing a commentary on it. In Madhava Purohita’s commentary, a few additional verses are found; it is unknown whether they were written based on some ancient text or were simply added by him.
