A circular printer's mark for D. Appleton and Company. It features a stylized apple tree laden with fruit. A ribbon winds through the branches and base, bearing the motto "Fruit among the leaves" original Latin: "INTER FOLIA FRUCTUS". In the center of the foliage is a small circular emblem containing the initials "D.A. & Co."

LC This indicates a physical "LC" perforation from the Library of Congress.
