Regarding the two ears: according to the words of Krishna, all rituals should be performed except during the three-fold? period. With the auspicious stars of Shravana represented by "Karna" in the text, Dhanishta, Hast, Citra, Svati, Mrigashira, Revati, Anuradha, and Ashvini; and when Jupiter is in the ascendant. Agastya says: "One should not perform ear-piercing during the two twilights sunrise and sunset, nor at night, nor during the junctions of lunar mansions and lunar days Tithi-sandhi." Brihaspati adds: "If one pierces the ears during these times, it will result in a tearing of the ear." Days associated with Saturn, the Sun, and Mars should be avoided for ear-piercing. According to the Sangraha a compendium of traditional rules, the days of Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, and the Moon are worshipful and auspicious. A golden needle is best for piercing and brings good fortune; silver or steel needles are also auspicious, used according to one’s wealth. On a clean ground, in a place facing the east, the piercing should be done. For a male child, the right ear is pierced first; for a female, the left. One should pierce with a copper needle threaded with white silk. After the piercing, wash the site under a favorable star.

On a day when the sun is blocked: Devala says, "The shadow of the sun should not enter the ear-hole while it is being pierced. If it does, the ancient merits of the child will vanish." 5. Next, the First Feeding original: "Annaprashana" is described. From birth, the first feeding of grain for a male child is prescribed in the sixth or eighth month. The wise state that for a female child, the feeding should occur in the fifth or seventh month. Here, the sages avoid the Nanda days, and the days of Hari Vishnu, Varuna, and the Night. Nanda refers to the 1st, 6th, and 11th lunar days. Hari refers to the 12th, Varuna to the 8th, and Rajani to the night. The Rikta days are the 4th, 9th, and 14th. Some teachers also avoid the birth star Janma-nakshatra. It is said: "Feeding on the birth star leads to the loss of prosperity." However, many observe the first feeding during the birth star for weddings and feedings, so it is determined based on other factors. Again, in which...
The term Shatkamshahoh refers to a collection of sixths, ninth-divisions Navamsha, and days. When the lunar Hakkansha a technical astrological division is not present, it is called A-chandra. If the group is full, there is no defect. This applies to the divisions of other houses as well. Again, in which stars? In the fixed, soft, mobile, and swift stars, which have been famous and previously mentioned in the Tantras. Again, in which signs? Excluding Aries, Scorpio, and Pisces. This means the ascendants of Aries, Scorpio, and Pisces are not auspicious for the first feeding. When the center Kendra, the trine Trikona, and the eighth and twelfth houses are pure—meaning they are devoid of malefic planets.
The "centers" are the first, fourth, seventh, and tenth houses. The "trines" are the ninth and fifth. The "end" is the twelfth and "death" is the eighth house. For both males and females, these houses must be pure and free of malefic planets. A malefic planet here would cause harm. The Moon Indu should be full and positioned in the ascendant; a full moon in the ascendant is auspicious for the first feeding. Other strengths of the ascendant are as previously described. Here Narada says: "The first feeding of a child should be done in the sixth or eighth month for boys, and the fifth or seventh for girls. Avoiding the Rikta days, Nanda days, the 12th, and the 8th, other lunar days are excellent for the feeding." In the Jyotir-vincharane: "One should know that prosperity is lost on the birth star. However, in the feeding of children, performing it on the conception star Adhana-nakshatra destroys disease." Thus says Vriddha-Narada.
