Desiring the attainment of the rewards generated by the Giving of the Daughter Kanyadana|The central ritual of a Hindu wedding where the father formally entrusts his daughter to the groom, I give her [to you]. May Prajapati original: "Prajapatiḥ priyatām"; the Lord of Progeny, the deity who presides over the creation of new families be pleased.

For the sake of the successful establishment of this rite of giving the daughter, and to attain the rewards described in the Sacred Scriptures, I present this gift—equivalent to the gift of a cow—consecrated to the deity Rudra and representing all the gods—
