...twenty-six [days], five months. The constellations Nakshatras are Rohini, Magha, Revati, Anuradha, Hasta, Swati, the three "Uttaras" Uttaraphalguni, Uttarashadha, and Uttarabhadrapada, and Mrigashira.
These are the eleven constellations. When [the moon or planets are in] Pushya, Magha, Hasta, Punarvasu, Swati, Revati, Hasta, or Vishakha, one should not perform [the ritual] without considering how wealth...
...of the three types of natural portents Utpata; unusual natural phenomena like earthquakes or eclipses, if they occur on the designated day, the defects destroy the [auspiciousness]... as long as the moon is not bright. ॥ 32 ॥
In all auspicious works, a cruel constellation original: "krura-nakshatram" must be avoided. This refers to [stars] joined by malefic planets and similar defects.
The constellation in which a planet resides causes a "piercing" Vedha; an astrological obstruction; therefore, one should avoid that star as it is considered "hit" or "wounded." A star joined by a cruel planet brings fear and should not be used. Similarly, from the Moon to the atmospheric astrology, all of it results in the experience of sorrow...
The Seven-Lath Grid Saptashalaka Chakra consists of seven lines drawn horizontally (East-West) and seven lines drawn vertically (North-South). Similarly, the Five-Lath Grid Panchashalaka Chakra has five horizontal lines and five vertical lines, with two lines drawn diagonally at the corners.
In the Seven-Lath Grid, one should place the constellations starting from the Northeast corner original: "Ishaana-kona".
In the Five-Lath Grid, one should place those same constellations starting from the second line of the Northeast corner. Thus, the constellations...
...the "piercing" Vedha should be considered when [a planet and a star] occupy the same line.
The text demonstrates this: "Vaishnava" referring to the deity of the star is Uttarashadha. The fourth quarter Pada of Uttarashadha combined with the first four minutes Ghatika of Shravana constitutes the constellation known as Abhijit.
When a [malefic] planet is there, Rohini is "pierced" obstructed. Similarly, when planets are in the "Uttara" stars, Revati is pierced; when in Bharani, Anuradha is pierced.
When a planet enters Uttarashadha, Mrigashira is pierced. When a planet enters Shravana, Magha is pierced. When in Hasta, the quarters of Uttarashadha are pierced. When in Mrigashira, Punarvasu [is pierced]. When in Shatataraka Shatabhisha, Swati becomes pierced. ॥ 33 ॥
When the "piercing" occurs in the same field, it causes an obstruction. In the Seven-Lath Grid, starting from Mrigashira, the piercing is considered [significant for marriage]... The planet in a specific quarter Pada of the star affects the corresponding location in sequence. ॥ 34 ॥
Those specific constellations mentioned in the previous verse, such as Rohini and others, are to be known as "pierced" when a major planet original: "Maha-graha" resides in the positions starting from Abhijit.
Now, the Seven-Lath Piercing Saptashalaka-vedha should be known specifically for the timing of an auspicious ceremony such as the bride’s entry into her new home original: "Vadhu-pravesha".
The obstruction of the "piercing" results in loss during the marriage ceremony original: "pani-pidana"; literally "grasping the hand". Among the many methods, the Five-Lath Piercing and the Seven-Lath Piercing are the most vital to understand. In all matters of safety, the "piercing" of the quarters must be investigated...
