Of the second lunar day: Mars original: "Kuja". Of the third: Mercury original: "Budha". Of the fourth: Jupiter original: "Guru". Of the fifth: Venus original: "Bhrigu". Of the sixth: Yama Lord of Death. Of the seventh: Saturn original: "Shani". Of the eighth: Brahma. Of the ninth: Moon original: "Soma". Of the tenth: Diti Mother of the Asuras. Of the eleventh: Jupiter original: "Guru". Of the twelfth: Vishnu original: "Hari". Of the thirteenth: Sun original: "Ravi". Of the fourteenth: Yama. Of the fifteenth: Vayu The Wind God.
The portion of the Sun original: "Savita" already traversed is added to the portions yet to be traversed. From its own rising, multiplied by six, the day and night are determined. The number of Ghatikas Ghatika; a unit of time equal to 24 minutes passed since sunrise is calculated using the tropical longitude of the Sun... ॥ 61 ॥
Now, the method for determining the Ghatikas time units and their subdivisions is stated. One should take the degrees of the Sun already traversed and add the tropical longitude Sayanabhaga; the longitude including the precession of the equinoxes. In that context, the Ascendant Lagna; the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon is also calculated. Multiply the degrees yet to be traversed by the Sun by the rising time of the sign. Divide this by thirty; the result is in Palas Pala; a unit of time equal to 24 seconds and the remainder is in Vikalas Vikala; arc-seconds or further subdivisions of time. Similarly, the degrees of the Ascendant already traversed should be multiplied by the rising time of the sign at night. As before, divide by thirty. The result is in Palas and the remainder in Vikalas. Afterward, these figures should be added together. The total sum of Palas provides the knowledge of the Ghatikas.
Following the sequence of the zodiac signs, the rising times in Palas are as follows:
| Zodiac Sign | Rising Time (in Palas) |
|---|---|
| Aries Mesha | 321 |
| Cancer Karka | 325 |
| Leo Simha | 329 |
| Virgo Kanya 15 | 315 |
| Libra Tula | 315 |
| Scorpio Vrishchika | 329 |
| Sagittarius Dhanu | 350 |
| Capricorn Makara | 311 |
| Aquarius Kumbha | 369 |
| Pisces Meena | 341 |
These are the rising values to be utilized. If the Sun is in a subsequent sign, one must multiply the rising Palas of that sign by the degrees to be traversed. If the Sun is in a sign combined with the tropical longitude, use the rising time of that specific sign. Similarly for the Ascendant, if it falls into a subsequent sign, use the rising Palas of that sign multiplied by the degrees already traversed. If the degrees are equal, multiply by the rising values of that sign itself. The rest of the calculation remains the same.
Now, the procedure for Adhana Adhana; the ritual of conception or the first impregnation is described as stated by the sages. Sexual union for the purpose of conception should be performed when the Moon is in Shakra Indra/Jyeshtha nakshatra, or during the auspicious constellations of Saumya Mrigashira, Pushya, or the three Uttaras Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, and Uttara Bhadrapada. ॥ 62 ॥
The ritual for establishing the sacred fire or the conception ritual should be performed during the marriage or at a later time. The specific Nakshatras Nakshatra; lunar mansion or star cluster recommended are: Vishakha, Jyeshtha, Krittika, Mrigashira, Rohini, Pushya, Revati, and the three Uttaras.
Regarding the Ascendant Lagna for this ritual: The signs of Cancer Karki, Capricorn Nakra, Aquarius Ghata, and Pisces Meena are auspicious. If the Moon or Ketu are positioned in these signs during the Ascendant, it brings wisdom and prosperity. ॥ 63 ॥
If a union is performed when Cancer, Capricorn, Aquarius, or Pisces are the Ascendant but are joined by malefic planets, one suffers ill effects. If the Moon is in the Ascendant in Revati, or if planets are in the 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 15th, 19th, or 21st positions... The text lists specific planetary combinations for the health of the woman and the gender of the child. Under the influence of auspicious planets and the Moon, a woman is blessed; if Mars Bhauma is dominant, a male child is obtained; otherwise, if malefic planets are present in the Ascendant, the conception ritual may lead to illness.
