...the Yogini a directional goddess should be avoided in the direction of travel. Likewise, when Saturn is in the seventh house of the horoscope at the time of departure, one should avoid that direction according to the region. Furthermore, if Rahu is in the eighth or ninth house from the Ascendant Lagna, one must never enter a city.

Traveling toward the "Reverse Venus" Prati-shukra; traveling in the direction where Venus is currently located is inauspicious and should be avoided in all circumstances. However, according to the lineages of Bharadwaja, Vashistha, Kashyapa, and others, if one enters his own home or clan territory, it is not considered a fault. Likewise, it is not a fault for pilgrimages or for entering a city on a Monday. ॥ 84 ॥

For those belonging to the Vatsa, Bhargava, Angirasa, Bharadwaja, Vashistha, Kashyapa, and Atri clans Gotras, there is no fault in traveling toward the "Reverse Venus." Similarly, in the northern regions, the fault of Reverse Venus does not apply to the two types of marriages, pilgrimages, or entering a single city.

Travel is auspicious when the Sun is in an upward-moving house. Venus in the second house is considered auspicious by the people. Malefic planets are auspicious when placed in the eleventh, sixth, or tenth houses. However, Saturn in the eleventh or tenth house is not considered auspicious. Having thus examined the strength of the Ascendant, and having worshipped the gods and the Brahmins, and having meditated upon the Lord of the Direction, one should set out on a journey of victory.

The following numbers refer to the specific houses—reckoned from the birth sign—where planets are either auspicious or obstructed.
The Sun is auspicious in 3, 11, and 9.
Saturn is excluded from certain benefits in the 12th, 3rd, 5th, and 4th houses.
In one's own travel, poverty and loss of wealth are caused by malefic planets in 1, 3, 2, 12, 6, and 7.
The wise say that the 4th and 9th houses 6, 4, 9 are obstructed by positions 5, 8, 1, 2, and 4.

Regarding Mars If Venus is in a specific position during a journey, Mars brings... original: "bhaume atra shukre..."

॥ 86 ॥ The Sun is auspicious in the 6th, 3rd, 11th, and 10th houses from one's own birth sign, provided it is not "pierced" Vedha; an astrological obstruction by other planets (excluding Saturn) in the 12th, 5th, 11th, 9th, 5th, or 4th houses. One must know the obstruction relative to one's own sign.

Similarly, the Moon is auspicious in the 10th, 11th, 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 7th houses, provided it is not "pierced" (excluding Mercury) by planets in the 4th, 9th, 8th, 5th, or 12th houses.

Mars, Rahu, and Ketu are auspicious in the 6th, 3rd, and 11th houses, especially in those houses known as "Fortune" and "Gain" (5th, 12th, 9th), unless they are sequentially pierced by other planets in the 12th, 5th, 11th, 9th, or 5th.

Jupiter Guru is auspicious in the 7th, 11th, 9th, and 2nd houses, provided he is not pierced by planets in the 3rd, 8th, 6th, 12th, or 4th.

Likewise, Venus is auspicious in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 11th, 9th, 12th, and 8th houses, provided he is not pierced by planets in the 8th, 7th, 1st, 10th, 9th, 3rd, 11th, 6th, or 5th houses respectively.

Saturn Manda... if not pierced by the Sun, he gives auspicious results. A planet in a "left-hand" obstruction vama-vedha gives undesirable results, while those with "right-hand" obstructions are auspicious. In the bright half of the lunar month, the placement in 3, 7, 11, 6, and 5 gives good fruit.
