To the group of deities... truth?... bestower of boons, wearing yellow garments original: "pītāmbara", anointed with silver-white sandalwood paste, of holy arrival, and pleasant to the sight. Salutations to the Lord of All Knowledge! I offer? the silent prayer. Afterward, he who is seated on a horse While Jupiter often rides a lion or elephant, some traditions associate him with a pale horse, the son of Prithini... approaching? the king of snakes, Hail! original: "svāhā". O Brihaspati, you who are the most worthy, the light that shines among the gods, the one who possesses great splendor, place within us that wondrous wealth. This is a translation of the Rigvedic mantra 2.23.15, traditionally used to invoke Jupiter's blessings for wisdom and prosperity Om! O Brihaspati, the Supreme Lord, like the weapon of Indra... O Wise One, O Creator, you are the vessel [of the ritual]. O Goddess, I invite the Creator Brahma here. Salutations.
[I invoke] the Siddhas and the Gods who preside over the nourishments. [I invoke] the Lord of the Goad A tool used to guide elephants, a symbol of sovereignty, who is seen mounted upon a great elephant, adorned with various ornaments. I invoke Indra as the presiding deity of Jupiter. Adhidaivata: The primary celestial patron who oversees a specific planet's energy.
Then, on his left side: Om, I invoke Brahma as the counter-presiding deity of Jupiter. Pratyadhidaivata: The secondary or balancing deity in the planetary hierarchy. Om Bhūr, I invoke Brahma... Om Svar, I invoke Brahma... Om Bhūr-Bhuvaḥ-Svaḥ These are the "Great Utterances," representing the earth, atmosphere, and heavens, I invoke Brahma.
For the mantra "To the Creator, for the sake of the Creator," the seer is Vishvamitra and the meter is Trishtup.
"Om, I yoking the horses of the Creator, the friends of the Golden One... may the wise one eat the honey. Indra, who knows the way, mount the firm and comfortable chariot." A translation of a Vedic verse used to establish the presence of the deity at the altar.
[I invoke] the one seated upon a lotus, with matted hair, four faces, carrying a rosary, a garland, a book, and a water-pot, dressed in the skin of a black antelope, with a swan standing at his side. I invoke Brahma as the counter-presiding deity of Jupiter.
On the Eastern petal [of the ritual diagram]: Om Bhūḥ, I invoke Venus. original: "Shukra" Om Bhuvaḥ, I invoke Venus. Om Svaḥ, I invoke Venus. Om Bhūr-Bhuvaḥ-Svaḥ, I invoke Venus.
