Ritual of the Nine Planets 18
Om. The [living beings] see the light of the sun, which is the light of the self. This [light] is carried beyond the day. original: "ādityasya..." This is a variation of a mantra from the Rig Veda (10.170.3) used here to invoke the essence of the sun or its dark counterpart, Saturn, given the following description.
I invoke the one who resembles a blue lotus, wears blue garments, is accompanied by his lineage, has two arms, and fills? the sky.
To his right: Om Bhuh, I invoke the Ashvins. Om Bhuvah, I invoke the Ashvins. Om Swah, I invoke the Ashvins. Om Bhur-Bhuvah-Swah, I invoke the Ashvins.
For the mantra "O Ashvins, three times for us..." original: "aśvinā trirasmad..." (Rig Veda 1.34.4), the Seer is Radurga Gauthama, the deity is the Ashvins, and the meter is Ushnih.
Om. O Ashvins, may you come to us three times with wealth and golden treasures. Bring your chariot to us with a well-disposed mind.
I invoke the Ashvins, the divine physicians. They each hold a medicinal herb and a book; their bodies are joined together. To their right and left sides are two women holding jewel-boxes and wearing white garments.
Now, the invocation of the protective deities of the seasons term: ṛtu-saṃrakṣā-devatā; these are the guardians of the directions who also oversee seasonal shifts should be performed on the rice-offering pedestals as before. In that manner, at the tip of the eastern petal:

Om, I invoke Indra. Om Bhuvah, I invoke Indra. Om Swah, I invoke Indra. Om Bhur-Bhuvah-Swah, I invoke Indra.

For the mantra "Indra like..." original: "indram vo..." (Rig Veda 1.7.10), the Seer is Madhuchhanda, the deity is Indra, and the meter is Gayatri.
Om. We call upon Indra from all sides, from among all people. May he be ours alone.
I invoke Indra, who is golden-colored, has a thousand eyes, holds a thunderbolt term: vajra in his hand, and is the beloved of Shachi.
At the tip of the south-eastern petal:
Om, I invoke Agni. Om Bhuvah, I invoke Agni. Om Swah, I invoke Agni. Om Bhur-Bhuvah-Swah, I invoke Agni.For the mantra "I praise Agni..." original: "agnimīle..." (Rig Veda 1.1.1), the Seer is Madhuchhanda, the deity is Agni, and the meter is Gayatri.
Om. I praise Agni, the chosen priest, the divine minister of the sacrifice, the invoker, the bestower of treasure.
I invoke Agni, who is golden-colored, whose rays reach out like seven hands, who holds the sacrificial ladles term: sruk and sruva, who carries the vessels for offerings, who is the beloved of Svaha, and who rides a ram.
At the tip of the southern petal:
Om, I invoke Yama. Om Bhuvah, I invoke Yama. Om Swah, I invoke Yama. Om Bhur-Bhuvah-Swah, I invoke Yama.For the mantra "To Yama, the Soma..." original: "yamāya somam..." (Rig Veda 10.14.13), the Seer is Yama, the deity is Yama, and the meter is Anushtubh.
Om. To Yama, offer the Soma; to Yama, offer the oblation. To Yama, the sacrifice goes, led by Agni, well-prepared.
I invoke Yama, who is red-colored, holds a staff term: daṇḍa, and rides a buffalo...
